Finger Lakes: Finalists announced for 2011 horse of the meet

Three fillies and a colt who combined to win 19 races this season at Finger Lakes are the four finalists for the horse of the meet at the western New York track.

The 4-year-old fillies Lisa’s Booby Trap and Turned to Gold, 3-year-old filly Nicole’s Miss El, and 3-year-old colt Winners Laugh are the finalists for the award, which will be announced, along with the best performers in various categories, at the Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association’s annual dinner on Saturday.

Lisa’s Booby Trap, owned and trained by Tim Snyder, went 5 for 6 at the meet, including a win worth a 96 Beyer Speed Figure.

Turned to Gold, trained by Charlton Baker, and the Michael Ferraro-trained Winners Laugh were both 5 for 8 locally. Dan Conroy’s filly Nicole’s Miss El was a four-time winner in five starts at the meet.
