Final time for Authentic's Breeders' Cup Classic win adjusted

Officials at Keeneland Race Course on Wednesday said the final time of the Breeders’ Cup Classic has been revised to 1:59.60 after further scrutinizing replays of the Nov. 7 race at the Lexington, Ky., track.
The originally published time of 1:59.19 was calculated from Equibase employees using video replay because a malfunction with the timing system during the live running of the 1 1/4-mile race had initially caused “inaccurate timing for all fractions and the final time of the race,” according to a Keeneland press release. The incorrect timing started with a photo eye being inadvertently tripped at the break.
Authentic led wire to wire in the Classic. The revised time remains a track record for the infrequently-run distance. These are the corrected fractions: 23.20 seconds, 46.84, 1:10.32, and 1:34.64.
In all, seven track records (six on dirt, one on turf) were lowered during the two-day (Nov. 6-7) event, including in three other Breeders’ Cup races – Gamine (Filly and Mare Sprint), seven furlongs in 1:20.20; Knicks Go (Dirt Mile), 1 1/16 miles in 1:33.85; and Audarya (Filly and Mare Turf), 1 3/16 miles on turf in 1:52.72.
