Final Derby ratings show rise

The final television rating for the final hour of NBC's two-hour Kentucky Derby broadcast was a 9.8, according to the network, up 11 percent over the 8.8 rating for the race portion last year.

According to NBC, the race portion of the broadcast was the most-watched Derby broadcast since 1989, with 16.3 million viewers. Last year, the race portion of the broadcast had 14.2 million viewers, a difference of 15 percent.

Share, or the percentage of televisions in use that were tuned to the broadcast, was a 23, compared with 21 last year.
