The filly Streetwithnoname takes on the boys in Robert Dupret Derby

Will boys rule the turf in Sunday’s $50,000 Robert Dupret Derby at the Sonoma County Fair in Santa Rosa, or will the talented filly Streetwithnoname prove best?
Trained by Eoin Harty, Streetwithnoname stalked the pace and scored by a head in an optional claimer on the turf at Del Mar July 20. She paid $74.60 for the win, which came at the same 1 1/16-mile distance of the Robert Dupret Derby.
Streetwithnoname, to be ridden by Abel Cedillo, has eight 3-year-old male rivals in the Robert Dupret Derby, including Respect the Hustle, who has been facing better in Southern California; Sunny Spot, a maiden winner on the Golden Gate turf two starts back; and Faversham, a full brother to Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome who comes up from Southern California.
Respect the Hustle graduated on the turf at Del Mar last August and went on to win the Oak Tree Juvenile on dirt at Pleasanton and run third in the Gold Rush on the Tapeta at Golden Gate. After a sprint prep to start his 3-year-old season, Respect the Hustle finished third, beaten three-quarters of a length, in the Alcatraz on turf at Golden Gate in May. He was well beaten in his last two starts – finishing fourth and last in the Rainbow at Santa Anita and 11th in the Oceanside at Del Mar – and trainer Bill McLean decided to take him back home for the Robert Dupret Derby.
“He was only beaten six lengths, but if he’d run better, maybe we would have taken another look down south,” he said of Respect the Hustle’s effort in the Oceanside.
Sunny Spot has traded recent decisions with Saturday rival Count Hu. In May, Sunny Spot finished fourth in his turf debut in a maiden race at Golden Gate won by Count Hu, then won a maiden race on turf there. Sunny Spot finished second to Count Hu’s third on dirt in an optional claimer at Pleasanton in his last start.
“He took some time to mature,” said his trainer Manny Badilla. “We bought him to run on the turf.”
As for Count Hu, trainer Jonathan Wong blames himself for the third-place finish at Pleasanton, saying he asked jockey Irving Orozco to rate him instead of letting him run free.
“We took him out of his game,” he said.
