The filly Goin' Good faces the boys in Sunday turf sprint

Goin’ Good was much too good for Indiana Grand fillies debuting in a turf sprint Sept. 21, and on Sunday she’ll take on allowance males in the featured fourth race at Fair Grounds.
This race, for 2-year-olds, is open to first-level allowance horses or $50,000 claimers and carded at about 5 1/2 furlongs on grass. The temporary turf rail is scheduled to be set at eight feet, as has been the case all racing week.

Goin’ Good, a Klein family homebred by Congrats out of the crack turf sprinter Good Deed, got only a 56 Beyer Speed Figure in her debut, but won comfortably after making the lead and coming home with a 12-second final furlong.
“I really thought she ran well first time out,” trainer Brad Cox said. “I didn’t want to run against the boys, but there wasn’t a race for her.”
Cox also entered Saturday Night, who has four starts and less room to improve than his female stablemate.
Risky Reward is the 3-1 morning-line favorite. Despite winning a turf-sprint maiden race Nov. 4 at Churchill Downs, Risky Reward adds blinkers and Lasix for Sunday’s start.
The pick to win is New Boss, a son of major turf-sprint influence Street Boss who tries grass for the first time.
◗ Jockeys Francisco Arrieta and Kody Kellenberger avoided serious injury in a third-race accident Thursday. Arrieta’s mount, Diamond Palace, stumbled and suddenly fell just past the half-mile pole while racing third along the rail. Kellengerber was unseated when Gem of Carlos was impeded by his fallen rival. Kellenberger returned to ride Thursday, while Arrieta was transported to the hospital. Arrieta said via text Friday morning that all X-rays had come back negative and after taking Friday off he hoped to ride the weekend. The two horses also escaped injury.
