Field again early favorite

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The mutuel field was a clear-cut favorite in Pool 2 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager after light action Thursday, the first of four days of wagering into the pool.

As of 6:15 p.m. Eastern, the field - which includes all but the 23 horses listed as separate betting interests - was 3-1. Then came Atswhatimtalknbout (10-1), Kafwain (10-1), Peace Rules (12-1), Badge of Silver (13-1), and Empire Maker (13-1). Odds on 12 of the 23 separate interests ranged from 10-1 to 22-1.

Pool 2 is open until Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Eastern. Pool 1 was held Feb. 13-16, with the mutuel field closing as the 2-1 favorite. Pool 3 is scheduled for April 3-6.

Odds on some horses were likely to change substantially by the close of Pool 2 because of the results of the Florida Derby, San Felipe Stakes and other presps this weekend.

The wager is a $2 minimum bet predicated on results of the Derby, to be run May 3.
