Field of 11 for Arkansas Derby

A field of 11 3-year-olds was drawn wednesday for Saturday's 66th running of the at Oaklawn Park. The 1 1/8-mile prep race for the Kentucky Derby has a purse of $500,000 and will be contested as the 11th race on Oaklawn's 12-race program (4:56 central time).

Private Emblem, the winner of the Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn Park in his last start, drew the outermost post No. 11 and will be ridden by Donnie Meche. Private Emblem is trained by Steve Asmussen, as is Windward Passage who won Oaklawn's Rebel-G3 in his last start. Windward Passage drew post No. 8 and will be ridden by Chris McCarron. Private Emblem (James Cassels & Robert Zollars) and Windward Passage (Team Valor) will run uncoupled.

Other contenders include the 1-2 finishers in Turfway's Rushaway Stakes, Mr. Mellon (post 10, Larry Melancon), and Wild Horses (post 6, Rene Douglas).
