Feel the Fear ($45.20) rolls to Prairie Gold Juvenile victory

Feel the Fear improved his career record to 2 for 2 on Saturday night when he darted to a two-length victory over American Sanctuary in the $100,000 Prairie Gold Juvenile Stakes at Prairie Meadows.
It was another three lengths back in third to 4-5 favorite Tengo Mis Papeles.
The Juvenile shared a card with the $100,000 Prairie Gold Lassie won by One Step Ahead.
Feel the Fear ($45.20) was always prominent, racing with the pace through an opening quarter in 21.99 seconds and a half-mile in 45.11. He went on to cover six furlongs on a fast track in 1:10.51.
Kevin Roman was aboard the winner, and said on a post-race interview broadcast by Prairie Meadows that he picked up the mount after Lane Luzzi had flight-connection issues. Feel the Fear was to be Luzzi’s first mount back from a small fracture to his clavicle July 2.
Feel the Fear on Saturday outbroke Tengo Mis Papeles and found himself on the front end, Roman said.
“My horse went on,” Roman said in the interview. “He had a good turn of foot.”
Austin Gustafson trains Feel the Fear for Forge Ahead Stables. The colt is by Honor Code. He launched his career May 20 at Lone Star Park, and won a maiden special weight by 4 1/4 lengths under Luzzi.
Feel the Fear has now earned $79,140.
One Step Ahead ($17.20) won her maiden in the Lassie, which was her third career start. She was content to sit just off the pace, as Summer Lightning set fractions of 22.18 seconds for the opening quarter and 46.06 for the half-mile. One Step Ahead was angled off the rail into the stretch and took after the leader. She moved past her for a 1 1/2-length win, while covering six furlongs on a fast track in 1:11.37.
Summer Lightning was a clear second, finishing 5 1/2 lengths in front of third-place finisher Eagle Express.
One Step Ahead came into the Lassie off a second-place finish in a July 11 maiden special weight at Ellis Park.
Walter De La Cruz was aboard for the Lassie for trainer Christopher Davis.
One Step Ahead is a daughter of Upstart who races for Dare to Dream Stable. She has now earned $72,000.
