Fear of the Cat among CTHS Sales Stakes winners

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Fear of the Cat was the only favorite to win a CTHS Sales Stakes at Hastings on Monday. The four races restricted to Canadian-breds sold at a CTHS-B.C. Division sale were worth $60,000 each.
Fear of the Cat paid $3.30 for his one-length win over We Found Gold in the division for 2-year-old colts and geldings. With Richard Hamel aboard, Fear of the Cat dueled with Silent Native early and was very game in holding off We Found Gold late in the 6 1/2-furlong sprint. Silent Native finished third.
Alex Marti, the rider of We Found Gold, lodged a claim of foul alleging interference at the top of the stretch. The stewards ruled in favor of Fear of the Cat, however.
Fear of the Cat is trained by Syvea Gregory. Gregory owns Fear of the Cat with her husband, Dave Gregory, and Stuart and May Carmichael. He posted a final time of 1:18.11.
• First-time starter Princess Katie came from a stalking position to upset the 2-year-old fillies division. She paid $30.30 for her 4 1/2-length win over Miss Finality in the 6 1/2-furlong dash.
Ridden by Amadeo Perez, Princess Katie won easily despite a wide trip. Miss Finality, who dueled with and put away the heavily favored Hippie, held on well to finish second. Cyclone Cindy rounded out the $1,835.50 trifecta. Hippie faded to finish sixth.
Princess Katie is trained by Robert Gilker and owned by Ernest Chu.
• Mighty Fraser paid $12.40 in the division for 3-year-old colts and geldings. Trained by Troy Taylor, he was ridden by David Lopez, who let him settle off a fast and contested pace. The 6-5 favorite, Burrard Breeze, had a rough trip while finishing fourth.
Mighty Fraser was making his first start since being claimed for $25,000 by trainer Troy Taylor. He is owned by Glen Todd.
• After dueling through sprint-line fractions in the 1 1/16-mile division for 3-year-old fillies, Sailingforthesun was very game in holding off the heavily favored Quatre Cat. She paid $9.60.
Sailingforthesun was ridden by Jeff Burningham and is trained by Robbie Anderson. She is owned by Foundation Stables.
