It seems Fdd Dreams has lost at the right times this year, in time trials and not lucrative stakes. The nation’s leading 3-year-old Quarter Horse, Fdd Dreams was beaten a nose in a division of the All American Derby trials in Albuquerque on Aug. 6, and rebounded to win the $1.08 million final on Sept. 1. Fdd Dreams was second by a nose in a division of the Los Alamitos Super Derby trials on Oct. 19. He will be favored to win Sunday’s $926,200 final, which would clinch his status in the age-group division. Owned by Los Felix Montana Ranch, Fdd Dreams is part of a top field of 10 in the richest race for 3-year-old Quarter Horses at Los Alamitos. Fdd Dreams was beaten in the trials by Hott Temptation, of three fillies in the final. Hott Temptation has won her last four starts, including the Mildred Vessels Handicap for fillies and mares at 400 yards on Sept. 13, her first major stakes win. Hott Temptation was the fastest qualifier from four trials on Oct. 9, finishing 400 yards in 19.572 seconds. :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! Devils Tower, a trial race winner in 19.894 seconds, was third in the $1.01 million Ed Burke Million and $1.83 million Los Alamitos Two Million futurities in 2024, but has yet to win a stakes. Lethal Cowboy 123, who was timed in 19.619 in the Super Derby trials, was the champion 2-year-old gelding and overall champion 2-year-old of 2024. This year, however, Lethal Cowboy qualified for the $793,066 Ruidoso Derby in June, but could not start in the final after bleeding in a time trial. Trained by Marc Jungers, Lethal Cowboy 123 qualified for the Rainbow Derby at Ruidoso Downs in early July, but the race was cancelled because of extensive flooding. Lethal Cowboy had a dreadful start in a division of the All American Derby trials in Albuquerque on Aug. 6, eventually finishing sixth. He has won his last two starts, beginning with the minor Sgt Pepper Feature Stakes at Los Alamitos on Aug. 23. Outtasyght won a Super Derby trial in 19.575 seconds, ending a three-race losing streak in races at Remington Park, Ruidoso, and Albuquerque. Outtasyght won the $97,500 Los Alamitos Maiden Stakes last February, which was restricted to maidens as of Nov. 1, 2024. Outtasyght was listed as sold for $320,000 as a yearling at Heritage Place in Oklahoma City. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
