Fat Clemenza pulls clear in Evangeline Downs Prince

Fat Clemenza pushed past 2-5 favorite Wakefield late for a one-length win in Saturday night’s $50,000 Prince at Evangeline Downs. It was another 3 3/4 lengths back to Geauxcro in third.
The Prince was a six-furlong race for 2-year-old colts and geldings, and it closed out the meet at Evangeline.
Fat Clemenza ($8) tracked the early pace set by B W P Express through an opening quarter in 22.02 seconds and a half-mile in 45.68. The eventual winner advanced, moved past Wakefield in the stretch, and went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:12.07.
Colby Hernandez was aboard the winner for trainer Harvey Lourd III.
Fat Clemenza is now 2 for 2 after winning a maiden special weight by seven lengths Aug. 3 at Evangeline. He is a son of Closing Argument and the mare Bronze Abe, a multiple stakes winner who earned $520,566.
Fat Clemenza has now earned $45,300 for owner Darrah Wentworth.
