Fast Scene dominates My Dear Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The aptly named Fast Scene ran to her odds when taking Saturday’s $104,400 My Dear Stakes for 2-year-old fillies with ease at Woodbine Saturday.
Fast Scene ($4.20) fought for the early advantage with two others before opening up a clear lead on the turn. She then drew away to win the 5 1/2-furlong dash by four lengths in a time of 1:05.15.
After missing the break, the debuting Justleaveitalone rallied from eighth to finish a clear second, and Copper Gem ran evenly for third in the nine-horse field.
Rafael Hernandez rode Fast Scene, who gave trainer Tim Hamm his second win in the My Dear. He won it in 2016 with Velvet Mood.
“She was looking at the horse next to her, and broke a step slow,” Hernandez said. “But, as soon as she put her feet on the ground, she picked it up. She was awesome, unbelievable today.”
Fast Scene, a daughter of freshmen sire Fast Anna based at Presque Isle Downs, earned $60,000. She’s unbeaten in two starts for Three Chimneys Farm.
