Fast Gator tries to stay perfect in La Senora Stakes

Fast Gator will have to overcome the rail post and nine rivals to remain undefeated in four starts when she runs Saturday in the $85,000 La Senora at Sunland Park.
The La Senora is a six-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies bred in New Mexico. It shares a card with the $85,000 Lou Wooten and Sydney Valentini Handicap for Quarter Horses, led by 126-pound highweight Running Dragon.
Fast Gator is the most accomplished member of the La Senora field as a two-time stakes winner, with her most recent stakes win coming in the $140,000 New Mexico Cup Lassie on Oct. 29. She won over Poseidon Aquarius and Movin On, who rank among her chief rivals Saturday.

◗ There is a good deal of speed situated to Fast Gator’s immediate outside Saturday, but she might prove to be the dominant speed given the fractions she set last out in the New Mexico Cup Lassie. Fast Gator ran the opening quarter in 21.80 seconds before winning the six-furlong race in 1:10.58.
