Fast Gator takes La Coneja

Coady Photography/Sunland Fast Gator wins the fifth stakes of her career in the La Coneja on Sunday.
Fast Gator won the fifth stakes race of her career Sunday in the $85,000 La Coneja at Sunland Park. She scored by two lengths over Tijuana, while it was another 6 1/4 lengths back in third to Bryn’s Fancy Pants.
The La Coneja was a six-furlong race for fillies and mares bred in New Mexico.
Fast Gator ($4.60) set fractions of 22.50 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.42 for the half-mile and fought back in the stretch when headed by Tijuana. Fast Gator covered the distance on a fast track in 1:08.98.
Alfredo Juarez Jr. was aboard for trainer Henry Dominguez.
Fast Gator is a daughter of Diabolical who races for her breeders, J. Kirk and Judy Robison. She has now won 7 of 10 starts and earned $345,135.
