Fast Anna to Three Chimneys in 2016

Barbara D. Livingston Fast Anna drew post 6 among eight in the Grade 1 King's Bishop.

Three Chimneys Farm in Midway, Ky. has acquired a majority interest in Grade 1-placed stakes winner Fast Anna and will stand the 4-year-old son of Medaglia d’Oro in 2016 for a fee to be announced later.

Fast Anna retired with three wins in nine career starts for earnings of $296,731, highlighted by a win in the Sawgrass Stakes at Gulfstream Park. He also placed in the Grade 1 King’s Bishop Stakes and Grade 3 Gallant Bob Stakes.

"Fast Anna absolutely captured me the first time I saw him in the paddock prior to the King’s Bishop last year,” said Doug Cauthen, vice chairman of the Three Chimneys board. “He is drop dead gorgeous,”

"When he ran a gutsy front-running second just getting nabbed on the wire in Saratoga’s premier sprint race for 3-year-olds, it confirmed that he was something very special,” Cauthen continued. “I’ve been after him ever since, and though some bad luck limited his 2015 campaign, I emphatically believe that he is a serious stallion prospect. His speed was brilliant, and the fact that he’s out of a Breeders' Cup champion Rahy mare only adds to my enthusiasm. Once anyone sees him they will understand my excitement.”

Bred in Kentucky and raced by Frank Calabrese, Fast Anna is out of Rahy mare Dreaming of Anna, the champion 2-year-old filly of 2006, who is the dam of two winners from three foals to race. He is a half brother to stakes-placed All Her Class.

Fast Anna is from the family of champion turf horse and leading sire Kitten’s Joy, Grade 1 winner Precious Kitten, Grade 2 winners Lewis Michael and Justenuffhumor, and Grade 3 winner Cassatt.

“Fast Anna is an impeccably bred and incredibly good looking horse,” said Grant Williamson, director of stallion nominations and sales at Three Chimneys. “His sire Medaglia d'Oro is the co-leading sire of stakes winners this year with 23, and ranks behind only Tapit on the general sire list.

“This is an opportunity for breeders to get to the El Prado line with a brilliant dirt sire,” he continued. “Three Chimneys has already hand-picked ten mares from the broodmare band for him, and we will be looking for more. We believe in him, and he will get every opportunity to succeed."
