Fast Anna colt posts fastest work Sunday for OBS spring sale of 2-year-olds in training
A colt from the first crop of Fast Anna turned in the fastest quarter-mile work as freshman sires continued to stand out during the final session of the under-tack preview show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co's spring sale of 2-year-olds in training on Sunday.
The Fast Anna colt worked in 20 2/5 seconds on the Ocala Training Center's all-weather Safetrack surface during the fifth and final breeze show session, which was pushed back to Sunday due to weather. In addition to being the fastest work of the day at the distance, the colt's time ranked only behind a pair of other juveniles by freshman sires who breezed quarter miles in 20 1/5 seconds last week - a colt by Amira's Prince and a filly by Commissioner.
Grade 1-placed Fast Anna is by Medaglia d'Oro and out of champion Dreaming of Anna. His bullet worker, consigned by Envision Equine, as agent, is out of the winning Tapit mare Valid.
Eight juveniles breezed a furlong in 9 4/5 seconds during Sunday's final session to tie for the day's fastest time at the distance. The fastest work overall during the five-session breeze show at the distance belongs to a Dominus colt who worked in 9 3/5 seconds last week; 21 horses are tied behind him at the 9 4/5 second time.
A filly by multiple Grade 1 winner Palace, also one of this year's freshman sires, was among the group of eight to tie for the fastest furlong on Sunday. The other juveniles were by Algorithms, Flatter, Lakerville, Malibu Moon, Medaglia d'Oro, Shackleford, and Street Boss.
The OBS spring sale runs from Tuesday through Friday.
