A demand for young New York-bred stock to pursue the state’s lucrative incentive programs was seen during the summer yearling marketplace, as the Fasig-Tipton New York-bred yearling sale posted some of the best figures in its history. The demand continued at Fasig-Tipton’s Saratoga fall mixed sale as a trio of $150,000 New York-bred weanlings pushed the sale to across-the-board gains on Monday. Fasig-Tipton reported that 136 horses changed hands in the single-session sale for gross receipts of $4,533,200. Last year, 163 horses sold for $3,657,800. The average price rose to $33,332, soaring 49 percent from $22,440 last year. The median doubled to $20,000. The buyback rate also improved significantly, checking in at 22 percent compared to 30 percent. A filly from the final crop of classic sire Malibu Moon sold for $150,000 to Willow Brook Stables as the 14th horse through the ring to set the bar for the top price. That was matched later in the day, in order, by a daughter of successful young sire Not This Time, purchased by Christophe Clement, and a colt from first crop of Vekoma sold to Glencrest Farm, with Dailey Bloodstock as agent. The Malibu Moon filly is out of the Grade 3-placed Montbrook mare Stopspendingmaria. She is the dam of stakes winner No Mo' Spending and stakes-placed Blewitt. :: DRF Bets members get FREE DRF Past Performances - Formulator or Classic. Join now!
