Fasig-Tipton November: Sweet Reason headed to Japan

Multiple Grade 1 winner Sweet Reason sold for $2.7 million to Katsumi Yoshida to take over the sale lead as the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall selected mixed sale continued on Sunday evening.

The 4-year-old Street Sense filly, offered as a broodmare prospect, was consigned by Bluewater Sales, as agent. Shinsuki Yoshida, who signed the sale ticket, said the filly is likely headed to the court of leading Japanese sire Deep Impact.

Sweet Reason won the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes and finished second in the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes as a juvenile. The precocious filly continued on to add a pair of Grade 1 events the following season in the Acorn Stakes and Test Stakes, and also stretched her speed around two turns to finish third to champion Untapable in the Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes.

Out of the stakes-placed Mt. Livermore mare Livermore Leslie, Sweet Reason is a half-sister to graded stakes winner Don't Forget Gil.
