The buyback rate was 21 percent, compared to 23 percent.
Safalow's Mission, a New York-bred 2-year-old gelding, was purchased by New York-based trainer Linda Rice, as agent for Thelma and Louise Stable. The gelding was consigned by Northview Stallion Station, as agent for Joseph Besecker, to the sale’s horses of racing age segment.
Safalow's Mission, by Mission Impazible, was second by half a length in his career debut on Oct. 21 at Belmont for Besecker and trainer George Weaver. In his most recent outing, he was third in another maiden special weight on Nov. 19 at Aqueduct.
The gelding is out of the winning City Zip mare Mosaico, dam of stakes-placed My Roxy Girl.
Safalow's Mission led a trio of horses sold for six figures atop the sale leaderboard. Stoneriggs Farm went to $120,000 for Money Fromheaven, a racing or broodmare prospect consigned by Greenmount Farm, as agent. The Maryland-bred Munnings mare won the 2018 Maryland Juvenile Filly Championship Stakes.
Grade 3-placed Dad's Princess, a young Mineshaft broodmare whose second dam is Hall of Famer and Eclipse Award champion Princess Rooney, sold for $100,000 to Bonita Farm, as agent. Dad's Princess, consigned by bloodstock agent Becky Davis, is in foal to Omaha Beach.
