Fasig-Tipton looks to ride momentum into New York-bred yearling sale
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Following a record edition of its Saratoga selected yearling sale, Fasig-Tipton now turns its sights to its New York-bred preferred yearling sale, set for Sunday, Aug. 13, and Monday, Aug. 14. There are 364 entries in the catalog, compared to 283 last year.
“We will hopefully bring the same energy and enthusiasm to that sale that we had for [the selected] sale, because we’ve got an obligation and responsibility to the men and women that entrusted the best New York-breds to us,” Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning Jr. said. “We will count our blessings, and we feel very, very fortunate to have achieved the success and the results that we did this week, but we won’t rest on our laurels.”
Last year’s New York-bred sale, led by a $700,000 Arrogate colt, posted a record gross of $20,175,000. The average was $107,314, soaring 17 percent from the prior year’s edition, and the auction’s second highest all-time. The median jumped 6 percent from the prior year, and the $74,000 figure also was the second best in history.
