Fasig-Tipton July sale catalogs 300

Barbara D. Livingston Connect, shown winning the 2016 Cigar Mile, is pointing to next weekend's Grade 3 Westchester.

Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 300 horses for its Kentucky July yearling sale, which kicks off the North American yearling sale season on July 11 in Lexington, Ky.

The sale will be held one day after Fasig-Tipton’s horses of racing age sale, which is still accepting nominations through June. The horses of racing age sale was held on the same day as the yearling sale, immediately following the latter in the evening, for the first three years of its existence before its popularity caused it to move to its own day last year.

The July yearling sale counts Grade 1 winners Connect and Klimt among its graduates in recent years, and has also become a prominent destination for pinhookers. A case in point was seen at last month’s Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in training sale, when the Curlin colt who topped last July's sale at $475,000 was sold for a Midlantic record of $1.5 million.

“Buyers expect to find a precocious, athletic group of yearlings when they come to our July sale, and that’s what they will find once again this year,” Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning said. “We look forward to kicking off the 2017 yearling sale season with a quality group of yearlings by many of the sport’s most successful, as well as up-and-coming young sires.”

Prominent stallions represented in the July sale catalog include Bernardini, Curlin, Distorted Humor, Into Mischief, Malibu Moon, and Uncle Mo. First-crop yearling sires with multiple representatives include Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Mucho Macho Man, multiple Grade 1 winner Verrazano, and champion Will Take Charge.
