Fasig-Tipton hires Mike Machowsky as California representative

Trainer Mike Machowsky has been hired as a full-time California representative for the Fasig-Tipton, which will be comducting sales in the state this year.
Machowsky, whose best runners included multiple Grade 1 winner Southern Image and multiple graded-stakes winner Caracortado, will no longer operate his public stable as he begins his new role, which will principally consist of promoting Fasig-Tipton’s inaugural auctions at Santa Anita. The company will host a 2-year-olds in training sale on June 5, followed by a yearling sale scheduled for Sept. 25.

“As we organize our California division, we are pleased to have an individual of Mike’s experience and expertise to represent us year-round on the West Coast,” Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning said Tuesday in a release. “Mike has worked in the California Thoroughbred industry his entire life, including nearly 30 years as a Grade 1-winning trainer. His knowledge of California’s owners, trainers, and breeders should prove valuable as we begin to put together our auctions at Santa Anita.”
In addition to recruiting buyers and sellers to Fasig-Tipton’s Santa Anita sales, Machowsky will promote overall awareness of Fasig-Tipton's brand, and serve as a point of contact for California connections regarding Fasig-Tipton’s nationwide auction schedule.
“I am very excited to be representing Fasig-Tipton in California, and look forward to working with the state’s breeders, owners, and trainers to conduct first-class auctions at Santa Anita Park,” Machowsky said in the release. “I want to extend my sincerest appreciation to all the owners, staff, and many others who have supported me throughout my training career.”
