Fasig-Tipton begins strongly

Fasig-Tipton Kentucky's October yearling sale got off to a strong start Monday with four horses bringing six figures in the early hours.

The biggest price among those was $400,000 for a Saint Ballado filly out of the stakes-winning Metrogrand mare Metromane. George Saufley, a new buyer and client of Taylor Made Farm, bought the filly, who is a full sister to multiple graded stakes winner Flame Thrower.

The Paramount Sales agency consigned the filly.

The session also saw three other six-figure yearlings by 5 p.m. Those were Hip No. 105, a $195,000 A.P. Indy-Magicalmysterycat filly; Hip No. 159, a $130,000 Saint Ballado-Pleasing Prospect filly; and Hip No. 112, a $105,000 Stormin Fever-Manila Gold colt.

The two-day sale was to continue through Tuesday at Fasig-Tipton's Newtown Paddocks facility in Lexington, Ky.
