Fasig-Tipton announces dates for rescheduled 2-year-old sales

Fasig-Tipton has announced the dates for its Midlantic 2-year-old in training sales, which are likely to be major events this season, in response to the evolving coronavirus pandemic.

The original Midlantic sale has been pushed back one week, to May 26 and 27, at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. This is to allow clearance from the current timetable from the Center for Disease Control, which recommends no gatherings of 50 or more for at least eight weeks.

With multiple sales on the juvenile calendar canceled, Fasig-Tipton has also added a second Midlantic sale for the market, to be held June 24 and 25.

"As the auction calendar continues to shift as a result of COVID-19, the addition of this June auction provides another sales venue for buyers and sellers," Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning said. “We are making every effort to ensure that there are ample opportunities for our customers to conduct needed business under these difficult circumstances. We will continue to monitor the current situation and make additions or changes to our sales schedule as conditions dictate."

The May Midlantic sale has already been steadily growing in numbers and popularity and has produced seven-figure horses in five consecutive years, led by Gamine, the sale-record $1.8 million filly who helped the sale finish with record gross and average figures last year. Now, Fasig-Tipton says it plans to re-route the horses cataloged for its canceled boutique Gulfstream sale to the Midlantic auction.
