Fashionably Fast to get graded test in Kona Gold

ARCADIA, Calif. – Fashionably Fast, the winner of four consecutive stakes for California-breds since October, is scheduled to have his graded stakes debut in the Grade 3 Kona Gold Stakes on April 19.
“I think he deserves a shot,” trainer Dean Pederson said.
Fashionably Fast won the Tiznow Stakes at a mile on March 1 in his most recent start. Owned by the partnership of John Harris, Per Antonsen, and John Nicoletti, Fashionably Fast has won his last six starts, a span that includes two wins in optional claimers last summer.

The $100,000 Kona Gold Stakes is run at 6 1/2 furlongs.
A 5-year-old gelding by Lucky Pulpit, Fashionably Fast has won seven of 16 starts and earned $449,745.
O’Neill fined for not reporting geldings
Trainer Doug O’Neill has been fined $1,500 by Santa Anita stewards for two instances of failing to report that a horse had been gelded in the proper manner, according to rulings published Friday.
O’Neill was fined $750 for failing to specify at time of entries that Moonlight Beach, who finished sixth in the eighth race at Los Alamitos, on Dec. 7; and Seizetheday Rexy, who finished fifth in the fourth race at Santa Anita on Jan. 18.
Both horses were first-time starters.
Through Friday, O’Neill ranked fourth in the trainer standings at the Santa Anita winter-spring meeting with 11 wins.
