Fantastic Treasure bids for fifth straight in Class 2 feature at Sha Tin

Irwin Cohen|May 14, 2021

The exciting 3-year-old Fantastic Treasure steps up to his highest class level while trying to stretch his unbeaten mark to five wins from five starts in the co-featured 10th race, a Class 2, Sunday at Sha Tin.

Fantastic Treasure, an Australia-bred by Written Tycoon, launched his career Feb. 14 with a nose victory at the Class 4 level, and three races later still hasn’t tasted defeat. Second time out, Fantastic Treasure won another Class 4 by four lengths despite picking up weight, following that success with a pair of Class 3 victories over 1,400 meters, the distance of Sunday’s contest. In his most recent start, May 2, Fantastic Treasure toted 133 pounds to a 2 1/4-length victory.

Sunday, his rating up from an initial mark of 52 all the way to 87, Fantastic Treasure is weighted at 120 pounds while breaking from an outside draw, post 10, under Chad Schofield in his final start of the 2020-21 Hong Kong season.

“He’s meeting some hard, seasoned horses,” trainer David Hayes told Hong Kong Jockey Club publicity. “This will be a real test for him.”

Fantastic Treasure’s 13 opponents include three other last-start winners as well as the in-form Beauty Smile, an established runner at the Class 1 and Class 2 level.

Race 8 also is a Class 2 handicap for horses rated 80-100, this one carded over a straight 1,000 meters.

First post for the card is 1 a.m. Eastern and you can catch all the action at DRFBets.com.
