FanDuel extends Breeders' Cup Sponsorship
FanDuel, the giant sports-betting company that owns the account-wagering company formerly known as TVG, has reached an agreement on an extension to its existing contract for multiple sponsorships with the Breeders’ Cup, the two companies announced on Wednesday.
The extension will carry the sponsorships through the 2024 Breeders’ Cup, scheduled to be held Nov. 1-2 at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club outside of San Diego. This year’s Breeders’ Cup is scheduled for Nov. 3-4 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California.
Under the extension, FanDuel will retain its status as the official wagering partner of the Breeders’ Cup, including several sub-designations, including official ADW partner, official sports wagering partner, official fantasy sports partner, and official mobile casino partner. FanDuel will also be the title sponsor of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, held the first day of the event, and the Breeders’ Cup Mile, held the second day.
FanDuel and the parent company of TVG merged in 2018, shortly after a Supreme Court decision paved the way for U.S. states to legalize sports betting. Last year, FanDuel rebranded TVG as FanDuel TV, and, several months later, the company launched technology allowing customers to use a single account for both sports betting and horse-race betting.
FanDuel will continue to produce and broadcast the Breeders’ Cup Players’ Show, an alternate live-racing broadcast for the event that is geared toward hard-core horseplayers, the company said in a release.
