Famous Little Reba, Bodacious Eagle win Dash For Cash stakes
Johnny Trotter, trainer Gilbert Aguirre, and jockey Ricky Ramirez pulled a rich Quarter Horse double Saturday night at Lone Star Park, where they teamed to win both the Grade 1, $448,515 Dash For Cash Futurity with Famous Little Reba and the Grade 1, $194,100 Dash For Cash Derby with Bodacious Eagle. Both horses are by the stallion One Famous Eagle.
“It's hard to duplicate something like this,” said Trotter.
Famous Little Reba ($18.20) eked out a nose win over Ferarri Gt, while it was another nose back in third to She Looks Racy. Nucky, the early favorite, was scratched from the Dash For Cash Futurity. Famous Little Reba won the 400-yard race in 19.70 seconds.
Trotter also bred Famous Little Reba.
Bodacious Eagle ($8) was a 1 1/4-length winner of the Dash For Cash Derby and covered 440 yards in 21.38.
“He broke awesome,” said Ramirez. “He and [Candy Cartels Cat] had a little match race for about a hundred yards, and then he just pulled away and went to the front.”
Bubba Cascio, who trained Dash For Cash, made the presentation after the futurity, which is one of the biggest races of the meet at Lone Star.
