Familiar foes for Zosia's Genius

MUSKEGON, Mich. - Zosia's Genius will try to duplicate her Aug. 22 Temptress Stakes victory when she takes on eight Michigan-bred 2-year-old fillies in Monday's $45,000 Sickle's Image Stakes at Great Lakes Downs. Five of her opponents from the Temptress will be in the six-furlong race.

Zosia's Genius is from the barn of leading trainer Gerald Bennett, who will also saddle Deb's Favoite Gift. Zofia Partynski owns Zosia's Genius, a daughter of Beau Genius.

Regular rider Joe Judice will be aboard Zosia's Genius, who has won 2 of 3 starts, including her four-length Temptress victory.

Smart Link was second to Zosia's Genius in the Temptress under Luis Martinez, who will be back aboard for the Sickle's Image. Smart Link was compromised at the start of the Temptress when she was bumped, then offered a late bid. She is one of two Pedro Martinez-trained runners in the field, along with Cats Copy.

The Sickle's Image field, from the rail out, is Textbook Tillie, James Schwartz the rider; Stellar One, Danny Cox; Mackinaw Island, Octavio Bernal; Deb's Favoite Gift, Freddie Mata; Zosia's Genius; Smart Link; Living Fully, Jason Eads; Cats Copy, Felipe Santos; and Great Game, Luis Martinez Jr.

Because of common ownership, Cats Copy and Great Game will be coupled in the wagering.
