Fallon's appeal denied

The court appeal by jockey Kieren Fallon against the Horseracing Regulatory Authority ruling that bans him from riding in Britain was rejected Friday. Fallon is thus effectively barred in Britain until after his trial on criminal charges of conspiracy to defraud customers of Betfair, the online betting exchange that allows users to post odds and take wagers from other users.

A lawyer for Fallon said, "My client is understandably disappointed with the outcome of his efforts to have his suspension from riding in the U.K. lifted pending a trial in 18 months' time." Burton said Fallon would not appeal the court's decision. "Our focus will be on defending the ill-founded charges against Mr. Fallon," said Burton.
