Fall Highweight rescheduled for a second time
OZONE PARK, N.Y. - The Fall Highweight Handicap is now rescheduled for Sunday after having to be postponed twice in four days.
Originally scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, the Fall Highweight had to be moved when that card was canceled due to high winds. The race was rescheduled for last Sunday, but the final five races of that card were canceled when the jockeys refused to ride because of inclement weather.
The Fall Highweight will share a card that includes the Garland of Roses for female sprinters. It may also include the Autumn Days, a turf stakes that was scheduled for Sunday but never carded due to a negative weather forecast. The racing office will take entries for the Autumn Days on Wednesday with the discretion to run it either Saturday or Sunday.
Saturday’s card already includes five stakes – topped by the Grade 1 Cigar Mile – and includes the Winter Memories, which was scheduled for Thanksgiving.
