Fair Regis back at best distance on Friday

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Fair Regis cuts back to her preferred distance and drops in class when she heads of seven fillies and mares entered in an open-condition allowance for New York-breds that serves as the feature on Friday’s eight-race card.
Fair Regis is coming out of runner-up finishes in both the Iroquois Stakes going 6 1/2 furlongs at Belmont on Oct. 19 and the Staten Island division of the New York Stallion Stakes series going seven furlongs here on Nov. 10.
Friday’s race goes at six furlongs, a distance at which Fair Regis has scored eight of her nine career wins. Three starts back, Fair Regis won an open-company allowance going six furlongs at Belmont.
“I think six will be better for him,” trainer Jason Servis said.

My Roxy Girl finished a nose behind Fair Regis when the two were second and third, respectively, behind Our Super Nova in the Staten Island. My Roxy Girl came back 12 days later and ran third in an open $40,000 claiming race. She too should appreciate the cutback to six furlongs in this spot.
Bluegrass Jamboree makes her second start off a layoff for Charlton Baker. She finished sixth of eight in the Staten Island in her first start since July. Her last victory came in an open-company first-level allowance going six furlongs here, a race she by won by 8 1/4 lengths and earned a 95 Beyer Speed Figure.
Filibustin, Jc’s Shooting Star, Kept True, and Aunt Babe complete the field.
