Fair price on Sweet Luca in Thursday sprint feature
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Sweet Luca could only finish fifth at Arlington Park on June 12 making his first start since December, but he was also rusty in his 2014 debut. Two races later, Sweet Luca became the only horse last year to defeat subsequent champion sprinter Work All Week, beating him by 1 1/4 lengths in the Addison Cammack Handicap. A decent step forward seems likely in Thursday’s featured sixth race, and that would make Sweet Luca an attractive play in a high-end Polytrack allowance that has stakes-dropping Dimension as the 2-1 morning-line favorite.
Million Preview draw
The first real stakes program of the 2015 Arlington meeting is Saturday, Million Preview Day. The four stakes on the card – the Grade 3 Arlington Handicap, Grade 3 American Derby, Grade 3 Modesty, and Grade 3 Stars and Stripes – have taken purse cuts down to $100,000, but they should for the most part come up with decent, large fields when entries are drawn Wednesday.
◗ Arlington’s 2015 Handicapping Challenge will be held Sunday. Top finishers in the $2,000 live-bankroll contest will earn spots in the DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship and the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge. More information can be found at www.arlingtonpark.com.
