Fair Meadows opens with new format and open to spectators
Fair Meadows in Tulsa, Okla., will roll out a new racing format when it opens its mixed meet Friday night. The track will have straight Thoroughbred cards every Monday and Tuesday and feature Quarter Horses on Fridays, Saturdays, and two Sundays.
“This is the first time splitting the breeds up,” said Kelly Cathey, executive director of the Oklahoma Racing Commission.

Fair Meadows is set to race through July 26. There will be 14 dates for Thoroughbreds through July 21. There will be 20 dates featuring Quarter Horses, with the Sunday cards on July 12 and 26.
The meet will be open to spectators, according to the track’s website. It states there will be social-distancing practices in place, from spaced seating to plexi-glass shields between patrons and employees such as tellers. There also will be hand sanitizer stations.
Fair Meadows opens with a 10-race card that starts at 6 p.m. Central.
