Fair Maiden romps in Catch a Glimpse Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Fresh off a blowout maiden score on Polytrack at Arlington, Fair Maiden crushed her six rivals in Saturday’s $104,600 Catch a Glimpse Stakes at Woodbine.
Over a turf course labeled yielding, Fair Maiden stalked the runaway favorite, Fast Scene, who set a quick pace in the 6 1/2-furlong sprint for 2-year-old fillies.
Fair Maiden made the lead nearing the eighth pole, and then drew off on her left lead to prevail by 7 1/2 lengths, in a time of 1:15.64.
Western Taffy finished a half-length ahead of the maiden Saratoga Vision in second, as Fast Scene faded to fourth.

Emma-Jayne Wilson rode Fair Maiden for Godolphin and trainer Eoin Harty, who said she could return here for next month’s Grade 1 Natalma Stakes.
“She’s always shown a lot of precocity, from Day One,” Harty said. “I think she’s something special. She was very impressive breaking her maiden against the boys, and I felt confident that I’d have a fighting chance today.
“I was actually hoping it would come off the turf, with all the rain. I had a few misgivings going into the gate, as most trainers do, but she won with authority and beat a good field.”
A homebred by Street Boss, Fair Maiden returned $8.20 and earned $60,000 in her stakes debut.
“She’s all class,” said Wilson.
