The Maryland Jockey Club announced that it will host the Fair Hill Turf Showcase, a two-day event that is intended to include flat turf racing and steeplechases. It will be held on Sunday, May 24, and Monday, May 25, which is Memorial Day. The Fair Hill Turf Showcase will provide the first live racing at Fair Hill under the MJC’s new leadership. The organization is coordinating the event alongside the National Steeplechase Association, Cecil County, the Cecil County Breeders’ Fair, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the Fair Hill Foundation, and the Maryland Racing Commission. The first day of racing on May 24 will include flat racing on the all-turf course, while the May 25 card is planned exclusively for steeplechase events. These details must still be finalized by the Maryland commission. Fair Hill is best known for its training center, which provides facilities for hundreds of horses in the Mid-Atlantic region. Live racing returned for one day last August, ending a six-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and renovations. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
