Fair Grounds returns to New Orleans

Fair Grounds Race Course intends to hold its 2006-2007 meet in New Orleans, the Churchill Downs Inc. track announced Friday. The 2005-2006 Fair Grounds meet was abbreviated to 37 days and moved to Louisiana Downs in northwest Louisiana because of the devastating affects of Hurricane Katrina, which struck New Orleans some three months before racing was to commence. Fair Grounds has applied to the Louisiana State Racing Commission for an 81-day meet, from Thanksgiving until the end of March.
