Fair Grounds Oaks winner Bonny South now stabled at Keeneland

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Bonny South is chillin’ up north.
Trainer Brad Cox said that the Fair Grounds Oaks winner is settled in at Keeneland in Lexington, Ky. She’s in a holding pattern of sorts as her connections plot the best course to get her to the Kentucky Oaks, which due to the coronavirus has been postponed to Sept. 4.
Bonny South won an Oaklawn optional-claiming race in February before going on to capture the Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks on March 21.
“She’s at Keeneland, just kind of taking it easy right now,” Cox said Monday. “She’s in training, kind of maintaining fitness. She hasn’t worked since the Fair Grounds Oaks.”

Cox and Juddmonte Farms, which bred and owns Bonny South, are in the process of determining the best means to bridge the gap to the Kentucky Oaks.
“We’re trying to get to Sept. 4 the best way we can,” Cox said. “I’m unsure where she’ll run next.”
Keeneland canceled its spring meet this year due to the coronavirus.
Bonny South’s optional-claiming win came over stablemate Shedaresthedevil, who returned in her next start to win Oaklawn’s Grade 3 Honeybee Stakes.
