Fair Grounds: Look At the Time rallies to win Crescent City Derby

Marty McGee|Apr 01, 2012
Look At the Time/Crescent City Derby
Hodges Photography/Lynn Roberts Look At the Time wins the $75,000 Crescent City Derby at Fair Grounds.

Look At the Time finished first for the fourth time in as many career starts when rolling past Event Center to win the $75,000 Crescent City Derby on Sunday at Fair Grounds in New Orleans.

With a confident Corey Lanerie riding for owner Hooties Racing LLC and trainer Wes Hawley, Look At the Time returned $4.80 as favorite after finishing the 1 1/16-mile distance in 1:44.74 over a fast track. Event Center made the lead after slipping through a rail opening at the quarter pole before settling for second, 3 1/2 lengths behind the winner and a neck before Benwill in a field of 11 3-year-old Louisiana-breds.

Look At the Time, by Brahms, won his career debut in December but was disqualified to fourth for interference. He proceeded to win right back in a maiden race, then captured the Gentilly Stakes on the Fair Grounds turf in February before his impressive triumph Sunday on the Louisiana Derby undercard.

The $2 exacta (7-1) paid $17.40 and the $1 trifecta (7-1-6) returned $81.60.
