Fabulous Strike earns 118 Beyer in comeback

Fabulous Strike ($2.60) picked up where he left off last December, coasting to a 6 1/2-length victory in the $75,000 Panhandle Handicap at Mountaineer.

Making his first start since winning the Christmas Stakes locally last Dec. 26 with a 119 Beyer Speed Figure, the 4-year-old Fabulous Strike had to face only three rivals in the five-furlong Panhandle. Jockey Dana Whitney never asked Fabulous Strike to go all out and he was geared down throughout the stretch, completing the distance in 57.18 seconds.

Fabulous Strike, based at Penn National with trainer Todd Beattie, was awarded a 118 Beyer for his Panhandle victory.
