Eysa Jess Jumpn goes for 12 in a row in Refrigerator Stakes

What is it about Louisiana-bred fillies and win streaks?
First there was Hallowed Dreams, who won the first 16 races of a career that was launched in 1999.
Now comes Eysa Jess Jumpn, who will be chasing after her 12th consecutive win – and millionaire status – in Sunday night’s Grade 1, $200,000 Refrigerator Stakes for Quarter Horses at Lone Star Park near Dallas.
Eysa Jess Jumpn will be facing mostly male rivals in the stacked 12-horse field. They include Grade 1 winners Dexxter and Valiant Tiberias.
“It’s a tough race,’ said Jose Estrada, the 22-year-old Dallas native who owns and grooms Eysa Jess Jumpn. “This gives us a chance to compete with those big horses. This is her moment, to see if she can prove more than what she has done. If she does well, we’d like to go to California.”
Estrada said the goal is to score an invite to the Grade 1 Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos.
But the first order of business, he said, comes Sunday. Eysa Jess Jumpn, who is a Grade 1 winner against Louisiana-breds, would go past $1 million in earnings with a win at Lone Star. She brings a career record of 15 wins from 18 starts for earnings of $917,537 into the Refrigerator.

Eysa Jess Jumpn’s win streak dates back to Dec. 8, 2018, when she won the Grade 2 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile at Fair Grounds. She then won all nine of her starts at 3, including the Sam Houston Derby at Sam Houston Race Park, the Louisiana Breeders Derby at Delta Downs, and the Dash for Cash Derby at Lone Star Park.
Eysa Jess Jumpn has made one start this year at 4, capturing the Flashy Hemp on Aug. 22 at Delta. For her return to Lone Star, she has been working at Evangeline Downs.
Estrada, whose father long has had racehorses, purchased Eysa Jess Jumpn at auction for $11,000. He said he was drawn to her pedigree. Estrada personally grooms Eysa Jess Jumpn for trainer Joel Huitron and plans to walk her up to the saddling paddock Sunday.
“She means a lot,” he said. “She’s the best horse I ever had.”
Eysa Jess Jumpn was the first yearling Estrada purchased. He now has a seven-horse stable. Pedro Espinosa, one of the filly’s regular riders, has the mount from post 12 in the Refrigerator.
“She’s a small filly – she’s just quick,” Estrada said. “And she’s got a big heart.”
Right now, it’s the size of Texas.
