"Eye" on Woodbine for February 9 - 13

Ken Walters|Feb 15, 2012

Thursday, February 9

BLACK MAGIC EYES (NW2FM) Closed gamely chasing the prohibitive favorite home to earn second place and has to be considered in next.

GLORYS MOTION (CLM10000) Rallied from back of the pack to miss a nose in strong effort in last and would be hard to beat with a better trip.

HOPE FOR PADDY (NW2FM) Short priced favorite made a quick move to the lead when asked and won easily. Stepping up should not be a problem.

UNLEASHED FURY (CLM12000) Trotted strongly on the front end leaving to the lead quickly from post 10. Dug in gamely but could not stall the favorite. Second best will be first best in near future.

Friday, February 10

TANNED FOR LIFE (NW8000FM) Followed the favored winner wide, rushed up late as the winner blew home and impressively outkicked the rest.

CAPRICCIO HANOVER (CLMHCP20/25000) Closed well from third over. Sharp as a tack in recent, he should be considered in next to atone for being a beaten favorite.

DO ME HONOR (HORSEPLAYER) Closed stoutly from a distant third over in second leg action. Finished a half lenghth short of the winning favorite while notching a :26.4 last panel.

SHINE N SHIMMER (HORSEPLAYER) Cleared traffic too late to menace but found a seam between horses in the last steps with willing finish.

KINDA KOOL (NW3) Went down the road over a tiring track and dug in stubbornly. Warded off the challenge of the favorite but could not stall the tripped out winner.

Saturday, February 11

OK BOROMIR (NW16500) Left and was parked, took back seeking a tuck, found no mercy, continued on uncovered, pressed the pace to the third panel and deep into the lane before faltering in the shadow of the wire. Such an effort needs to be remembered.

CLASSIC ROCK NROLL (OPEN) Sat in, angled clear of mid lane traffic, set down and roared home with mighty strides to win going away. Can we think repeat? Why not?

FIRE ON THE WATER (NW8000) Hot footed it home from a distant fifth over picking up lenghths and picking off foes only to miss by three-quarters. Beaten favorite has what it takes to get home in next.

FIRST VICTOR (NW5000) Came uncovered, challenged the last quarter, dug in bravely but could not last--this time.

Monday, February 13

FIRST FLOWER (NW2) Got stuck third over behind a dead piece, rallied wide in the last turn, rushed home but had no shot.

WOODMERE ULTIMATE (NW3) Sat in a tight pocket heading home, finally managed to angle out for clearance in deep stretch with willing finish but had lost any chance.

ARTIST LIST (CLMHCP12/20000) Was absolutely buried with no shot until the stretch, angled out and wide, came on with a big finish but it was too late.

BLISSFUL YEARS (NW1) Finished fastest of all from a distant fourth over passing the pace setting favorite enroute to a strong second place finish.
