"Eye" on Meadowlands for February 9-11

Derick Giwner|Feb 14, 2012

Thursday, February 9

ARTS IDEAL HANOVER (JR TRENDSETTER) – Flashed early speed before yielding and getting stuck in a bad spot. He finished up willingly with no real shot.

Friday, February 10

AISLING (INVITATIONAL) - Proved to be able to go with the top trotters on the grounds right now; worth another try off the tough trip.

MELVYN (EXIT 16W) – Came with a ton of late pace in most recent start. The Drolet barn quietly keeps putting fit and ready horses out on the track.

REILLYS DAUGHTER (50000CLM) – Finished a solid second behind a monster; fits in very nicely at the $50,000 claiming level.

FEARLESS DIABLO (EXIT 16W) – Raced very well in the Exit 16W legs. It won’t be easy to upset either SPECIAL T ROCKS or ITRUSTYOU in the final. If you like value this one is as live as they come.

Saturday, February 11

IM SO BLUE (15000CLM) – Was pinned down before angling late final turn. With any kind of a trip he would have won easily.

DRUMFIRE A (NW23750) – Showed speed before being shuffled and was badly blocked in the lane; looked to have plenty left in reserve.

POWER SURGE (20000CLM) – Never stood a chance trying to close into very soft fractions; solid play at the $20,000 claiming level.

WAIVER HANOVER (NW3) – Was parked every step of the mile still holding for third; very sharp right now.

WESTWARDHO HANOVER (AQUARIUS) – Did everything wrong and still managed to best this group; should be worth the short price in the final.

MASTER STROKE (25000CLM) – Had no chance of closing into a soft pace; came with sneaky late pace and can be a factor with $25,000 claimers.

(Horses which previously appeared but have yet to race)

Thursday, February 2

KEYSTONE ACTIVATOR (NW6000) – Proved a very easy winner and gets a free ride in the same class next week.

BUTN YOUR SHIRT ED (NW4000) – Set up behind poor cover while third-up and finished well to be a much improved second. He could be rounding into form now.

Friday, February 3

HEIDI FALLS (NW8000) – Waited along the cones, found room in the stretch and finished up willingly.

Saturday, February 4

STRAND HANOVER (NW10000) – Took an early seat and was forced first-over. He gained nicely and just missed in a tight photo.

Friday, January 27

LUCK GOES AROUND (7500CLM) – Was stuck wide with a half-mile to race behind dull cover, continued four deep for almost the entire final turn and passed tired one in the lane after racing further than just about any of the competitors signed on.
