"Eye" on Meadowlands for February 16-18

Derick Giwner|Feb 21, 2012

Thursday, February 16

ROCKIN GLASS (RAGS TO RICHES) – Was stuck in the three-hole and had to wait for room. He finished up willingly with no shot at first once clear.

WHAT WENT WRONG (RAGS TO RICHES) – Regardless of the banked turns, swinging five deep on the final turn is hardly a recipe for success. This guy still rallied well for second.

Friday, February 17

SUMMER HOPE (NW10000-FM) – Appeared loaded with pace in the pocket, angled out into a worse spot and faced more traffic.

Saturday, February 18

GRAMS LEGACY (NW2) – Never had an anxious moment in a very confident score.

STRAND HANOVER (NW16000) – Was placed in a tough spot and wound up stuck in traffic; had pace.

(Horses which previously appeared but have yet to race)

Thursday, February 9

ARTS IDEAL HANOVER (JR TRENDSETTER) – Flashed early speed before yielding and getting stuck in a bad spot. He finished up willingly with no real shot.

Saturday, February 11

IM SO BLUE (15000CLM) - Was pinned down before angling late final turn. With any kind of a trip he would have won easily.

POWER SURGE (20000CLM) – Never stood a chance trying to close into very soft fractions; solid play at the $20,000 claiming level.

WAIVER HANOVER (NW3) – Was parked every step of the mile still holding for third; very sharp right now.

Thursday, February 2

KEYSTONE ACTIVATOR (NW6000) – Proved a very easy winner and gets a free ride in the same class next week.

Friday, February 3

HEIDI FALLS (NW8000) – Waited along the cones, found room in the stretch and finished up willingly.

Friday, January 27

LUCK GOES AROUND (7500CLM) – Was stuck wide with a half-mile to race behind dull cover, continued four deep for almost the entire final turn and passed tired one in the lane after racing further than just about any of the competitors signed on.
