Eye of a Jedi repeats in Sea of Tranquility Stakes

Eye of a Jedi held off Noble Drama by a half-length to win the $60,000 Sea of Tranquility for the second year in a row Saturday at Gulfstream Park. It was another 1 3/4 lengths back in third to Red Crescent.
The Sea of Tranquility was a 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-olds and up. It was run over a track rated muddy.

Racing resumes Sunday and the 20-cent Rainbow 6 will have a minimum guaranteed pool of $700,000, according to a press release from Gulfstream. The bet will run on races 5-10.
Eye of a Jedi ($9.80) stalked the pace set by Red Crescent, moved to the lead on the final turn, and in the stretch fought off Noble Drama. Eye of a Jedi covered the distance in a hand-timed 1:43.80, according to Gulfstream.
The fractional times were not available. The races Saturday were hand timed after a power outage, according to the chart from Equibase.
Hector Berrios rode Eye of a Jedi for owner and trainer Steve Budhoo.
Eye of a Jedi is a son of Eye of the Leopard. He has now won 5 of 28 starts, and the first-place check of $36,456 pushed his earnings to $241,268.
Eye of a Jedi was winning his second straight race, following a starter handicap victory June 13 at Gulfstream. He was bred in Kentucky by Calumet Farm.
