Everfast drops out of stakes ranks for Thursday allowance

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Trainer Jack Sisterson, who’ll stable regularly in South Florida for the first time this winter, will send out 2019 Preakness runner-up Everfast in Thursday’s $48,000 allowance feature at one mile on the main track at Gulfstream Park.

Everfast, who rallied from more than 20 lengths off the pace to be beaten just 1 1/4 lengths by War of Will in the Preakness, returns to the allowance ranks for the first time since beating entry-level company going seven furlongs Aug. 1 at Saratoga. He has finished off the board in three subsequent starts, including a sixth-place effort over a sloppy track in the Grade 1 Forego at Saratoga.
Everfast could face his stiffest challenge from the lightly raced but very promising 3-year-old West Will Power, an easy winner of his only two starts. West Will Power is coming off an easy first-level allowance win around two turns last month at Monmouth Park, for which he earned a 95 Beyer Speed Figure. Trained by Kelly Breen, West Will Power is a Gary and Mary West homebred by Bernardini.
Completing the field are Red Crescent, a Florida-bred stakes winner; Mexican Wonder Boy, a Group 1 winner in Mexico City as a 2-year-old in 2019; recent allowance winner Youcantcatchcurlin; and Lord Barna.
