Even with formful results, Golden pick six pays $1,889
The 20-cent Golden pick six paid $1,889 on Monday at Golden Gate Fields on a day with a mandatory payout and a seven-figure pool of new money.
The bet began with a carryover of $147,144 from Sunday. Bettors added $1,366,651 to the wager that is paid out entirely when there is a single ticket or on programs with a mandatory payout.
Overall, the results of the pick six races, the fourth through ninth, were formful, so the payout was generous. The winners were Bernalinho ($6), Alqwani ($4.60), Emerald Magic ($8.40), Cowboy Charlie ($8), Jimmy Blue Jeans ($13.80), and North Sea ($4.60).
Alqwani and North Sea were favored, Bernalinho and Cowboy Charlie were the second betting choices, while Emerald Magic and Jimmy Blue Jeans were the third choices.
Golden Gate resumes racing on Friday with an eight-race program.
Golden Gate does not typically race on Mondays. Track officials chose to race on Monday instead of Saturday over the weekend to avoid competing with high-profile programs that day at Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita. All three tracks are owned by 1/ST Racing, formerly known as The Stronach Group.
