Evangeline track report

The field for this meeting's showcase event in the handicap division, Saturday night's $150,000 Evangeline Mile, attracted a field of eight when it was drawn Wednesday afternoon. The starting highweight at 121 pounds is High Strike Zone, recent winner of the $75,000 Ark-La-Tex Handicap at Louisiana Downs.

Also in the field is Stockholder, who won the recent $100,000 Omaha Stakes at Horsemen's Park and finished a close second in the Grade 3 Texas Mile at Lone Star Park on April 29. He is the second highweight at 119.

Trainer Brandon Marks and owner Carrol Castille will send out the powerful entry of Watchem Smokey, who set the one-mile track record here in the $75,000 John Henry Stakes in early May, and Evangeline Downs newcomer Salic Law. Salic Law will be making his first start since a fourth-place finish in the Stymie Handicap at Aqueduct in early March.

Dreamsandvisions comes off a stakes victory of his own, having defeated Texas-breds in the $75,000 Assault Stakes at Lone Star last month.

Biloxi Breeze, Mauk Four, and Biloxi Pride complete the field.
