Champagne Room worked five furlongs early Friday at Santa Anita, as the filly bids for her second Breeders’ Cup upset. Champagne Room paid $69.20 winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies last year, and her odds are likely to be higher than 10-1 next Friday in the Distaff. Champagne Room was sidelined early this year with an ankle chip. She won her comeback by 3 3/4 lengths in the Remington Park Oaks on Sept. 24. :: BREEDERS’ CUP 2017: Pre-entries, odds, comments, and more Trainer Peter Eurton liked Champagne Room’s 6:30 a.m. workout in real time, and he liked it even more when he viewed it later on the internet. “It looked as good to me as when I was watching it live,” Eurton said. “Her energy level is high … off the charts.” Champagne Room and jockey Mario Gutierrez worked solo, and the move was timed in 59.80 seconds. She has won 3 races and $1,430,600 from 7 starts. Champagne Room is one of five 3-year-olds targeting the Distaff. The others are Elate, Paradise Woods, Abel Tasman, and Mopotism. :: Breeders' Cup PP packages: Get PPs, betting strategies, DRF+ Pro access, and more
