Europe: Kutub wins in Milan

Kutub won the Group 1 Gran Premio del Jockey Club & Coppa d'Oro in Milan. Despite missing the break under Frankie Dettori, Kutub led virtually all the way to beat the German-trained Monos by 2 1/2 lengths, traveling the 1 1/2 miles in 2:37.50 on very heavy ground. A previous winner of a pair of Group 1's in Germany, Kutub could go next in the Singapore Gold Cup on Nov. 10.

Aidan O'Brien, who will saddle seven horses in the Breeders' Cup, saw one of his lesser juveniles, Sholokov, win the one-mile, Group 1 Gran Criterium, Italy's championship 2-year-old race. Sholokov, 11-10, beat Swing Wing by 1 1/2 lengths, for a second win in four starts.
